Pointed as a trend for 2022, terracotta sets the tone for DonaFlor’s Varanda Argila project and new product collection

Present in the fashion scene for a while, terracotta is getting more space in architecture and decoration projects. Result of the mixture between red and orange, the color has a wide pallette, from red maroons to closed oranges, adapting itself to all decoration wishes. It is easy to blend in any room in the house, it is also associated to pottery and sculptures.

Applied to the external area, terracotta tones suggest a greater connection with the soil and the materials that the earth provides, in addition to conveying a feeling of warmth and coziness. Conceived by the trio of creatives Mila Rodrigues, designer and curator of products at DonaFlor Furniture, Marcelo Yamasita, brand director, and Juliana Pippi, architect who signs the project. Varanda Argila is an ode to the earth, to the materials and knowledge that it transmits to us and that transform everyday life.

Varanda Argila has a palette of earthy tones that also characterize the DonaFlor’s 2022 collection, such as the Mantanegra armchair, signed by Sérgio J. Matos. Created exclusively for the brand, it is inspired by the biomimetics of the Jamanta Ray also known as Manta, one of the largest stingrays found on the Brazilian coast. With an aluminum structure and wefts leaked in nautical rope, the armchair transmits the feeling of amplitude that only nature is able to radiate.

The 2021 collection also brings a novelty to the external area: the DonaFlor blanket. Developed by Pia Laus with the architect, Juliana Pippi, being a collab for the project, the piece gives a touch sensitive to the outdoor design.
